GGCL Guide: How to install ceramic wall tiles
Ceramic wall tiles have been the most preferred choice of builders, architects and interior designers for a while now. The durability, lustrous surface, resistance to moisture and ease of cleaning has made the ceramic wall tiles to be the ideal wall decoration material. While the beauty of ceramic wall tiles cannot be matched, the process of installing requires great amount of patience and pre planning.
Before directly going and randomly sticking the wall tiles, you need to first study the layout. The grout lines should match perfectly; the tiles should be trimmed to the last centimeter, the designs should be symmetrical and match, etc. The easiest and the most failsafe way to achieve this level of precision and perfection is to draw the layout lines on the walls where you want to install the ceramic tiles. To avoid irregularities in the design, always start the measurement and drawing from the center of the wall. This way you will have symmetrically ending designs on all the adjacent walls, floor and ceiling.
Once the layout design is finalized and the layout lines are drawn, we proceed to trim the ceramic wall tiles as per our requirement. The water jet cutting tool is the most ideal tool to trim the tiles with precision. In case the water jet cutting tool isn’t available, you can use the diamond blade cutter too but keep a steady stream of water flowing on the tiles where the cuts are being made.
Once you have all the required ceramic wall tiles pieces as per the layout requirement, you can start installing them. For the installation, first apply a layer of adhesive on the chosen wall. When the level of adhesives is even, place the first row and column of tiles on the wall. While placing each ceramic wall tile, press the tiles firmly and twist them slightly to embed them in the adhesive. Repeat the process till all the tiles have been embedded as per the prefixed layout.
To end the ceramic wall tile installation process, start applying grout between all the groves of the tiles you just installed. Apply the grout evenly between all the joints. Once finished, wipe the entire wall with grout sponge and water to remove the excess grout. Let the grout and adhesive dry up, give a nice cleaning with soft cloth to obtain the required finishing after installing the ceramic wall tiles on a wall.
